With a steady hand, freshman Dominic Alfaro makes a music box in his engineering class. Alfaro was inspired to take the project-based class because he saw himself possibly pursuing a career in that field. But he also took it for the enjoyment he got out of the class. “I feel like when I have fun in that class, it helps for me to pay attention more because it’s stuff that I actually enjoy doing and learning about,” said Alfaro. “Overall, I think it improves my mood when I’m having fun.”

The Jenga tower rocks back and forth as junior Brealina Morales places a wooden block on top. “When we played Jenga, we were just talking like we had been friends for years, but I had literally just met them that day,” said Morales. Morales said she enjoyed hanging in the Maker Spaces Club. “It’s a club where you can get to know other students while hanging out together. We just play board games for an hour.” Morales said. "Just being able to have some free time and play games. It gives me time to relax during the school day.”
