Plainfield High School orchestra teacher Mr. Graf has been selected as one of the latest recipients of the Empowering Students Award from Hendricks Power. The award recognizes educators who go above and beyond to support students in both their learning and personal growth.

Mr. Graf was nominated by two of his students who described his genuine care and commitment to helping them succeed. They shared that he treats students as equals and often purchases snacks and sheet music out of his own pocket. He also pushes students to explore musical opportunities outside of school to further develop their skills.

“He is by far the best music teacher I have had, teaching from experience and giving us great advice. Thanks to Mr. Graf, I have many orchestral achievements,” said current student E. Crawford.

Students often credit Mr. Graf’s enthusiasm, creativity, and steady support for creating a classroom environment where they feel encouraged to challenge themselves. His influence is felt at every concert and rehearsal, where he works to bring out the best in each performer.

As part of the award, Mr. Graf received $250 for classroom supplies, a trophy, and donuts to celebrate with his classes.

Plainfield High School congratulates Mr. Graf on this well-deserved recognition and thanks him for the care he shows to his students and the music program. Hendricks Power will continue highlighting outstanding educators throughout the district with future Empowering Students Award announcements.
