DECA

A few weeks ago Officer Niko Romero from the Plainfield Police Department approached  Plainfield High School's D.E.C.A. organization in need of care packages for 2 units of soldiers (20 men) currently stationed in Iraq and in active duty positions. Officer Romero previously served with members of this unit during his deployment and was looking for a group to pair with for the project.

D.E.C.A. students were able to collect over 760 items to send in care packages to the 2 units of soldiers.  These items included specific requests from the group for food and toiletries, as well as some miscellaneous items such as hand warmers, sewing kits, and rubber bands (to name a few).  D.E.C.A. students also wrote letters to the soldiers thanking them for their service and packaged the items and letters to be sent out to the troops. This project was a great opportunity for P.H.S. students to help fulfill a need for those who protect and serve our Plainfield community and our country.

Plainfield High School and D.E.C.A. thanks all our troops fighting to protect our freedom.
