Thank you to the Plainfield first responders who came and visited all of our students during lunchtime! Central students collaborated with Mrs. Brush, our art teacher, to make Thank You cards to give the first responders. It was great to see the smiling faces and for our students to have the opportunity to interact with our local community partners from the PPD and PFT.

Thanks to our community partner Duke Energy for visiting students before Fall Break and bringing their Energy Revolution program! Duke partners with The National Theatre for Children to help promote conservation and energy efficiency education. This organization uses professional actors to teach students about energy efficiency through engaging, comical and informative live theater sketches. Our students LOVED it!

4th graders enjoyed visiting the State House and Indiana State Museum to help them learn more about our state and its history. What a fun field trip!

2nd graders have been learning all about animal adaptations, habitats, and life cycles. Before heading to the zoo for their field trip, students chose an animal to research and learn more about. Students will now use what they observed at the zoo along with non-fiction resources to write a research report on their animal!

1st-graders enjoying using the 4 C's at their September Odyssey to the Imagination Lab!

Thanks for a great 1st quarter of the school year! We look forward to seeing the students on Monday October 17th. Have a fun and safe break!

On Tuesday Central's PTO, staff, and families came together for our second Family Service Night! It was a great way to spread kindness and give back to our community. Thank you to everyone who helped make it possible!

3rd grade had a great learning experience at Conner Prairie for their Fall field trip.

Look at these smiles! It seems like 5th grade lunch is the place to be!

Kindergarten and 5th grade Book Buddies enjoying their reading time together!

Hands-on learning at its best throughout 4th grade Science!

5th graders in Mrs. Schroeder's class practiced putting what they've learned about decimals into place in their Decimal Diner activity. Looks like they got to enjoy some snacks throughout Decimal Diner, too!

We love Book Buddies! At Central, our primary classes are paired with an intermediate class in which they meet together to read, create, and learn. Here's Mrs. Todd's 2nd graders with Mrs. Gibbs' 4th graders.

Kindergartners working on counting, finding and creating patterns, and sorting apples!

Throughout their Odyssey to the Imagination Lab last week, 4th graders learned about DNA and then tried their hand at creating their very own DNA helix with different types of materials

2nd graders experienced making thaumatropes, coding with legos, and creating a beautiful oops! this month while on their Odyssey to the Imagination Lab.

The 4 C's in action in Mrs. Weaver's 1st grade class!

Central Elementary students are CHAMPS! But do you know what CHAMPS means?
C-Caring
H-Honest
A-Achievement
M-Making Good Choices
P-Prepared to Learn
S-Safety
Every month, students have the opportunity to practice putting these behaviors into place in their classroom, the hallways, lunch, recess, and specials classes! Each class then has a monthly CHAMPS Tags time where Mrs. Slavens, Mrs. Thacker, or Mr. Edwards comes in to present the tags to students!

As part of their Social Studies unit, 1st graders learned about maps and traffic signals. Then, they used the 4C's to create prototypes of what they learned! The smiles are always the best part :)

3rd grade fun in Mrs. Maple's class!
