One School, One Book
Central Elementary is very fortunate to have an amazing PTO who loves to work with our school to help bring about joy, learning, and safety to our students. Our Central families participated in One School, One Book for the second year in a row, this year reading 8 Class Pets + 1 Squirrel / 1 Dog = Chaos by Vivian Vande Velde. And what fun we had over the course of the 2 weeks!
With the help of donations, our PTO ensured that every student received a copy of the book to take home and read each night with their family. PTO even made a kick-off video and Masked Reader videos! Within the classrooms, teachers played the Masked Reader videos to tease the beginning of every other chapter. Masked readers this year included some specials teachers, a school board member, custodians, cafe staff, and even our principal!
The joy that was brought to many students as they read this hilariously heartwarming book with their teachers, classmates, and families is just one of the many reasons why we love participating in One School, One Book! As a cumulation to the fun-filled weeks, Silly Safari joined Central and brought along some furry (and scaly!) friends.
