Mrs. Mosier and Mrs. Harris have been working together with 4th and 5th-grade Math Bowl students! Math Bowl was open to any 4th and 5th-grade student that was interested.  We had a team of 20 students that met every Wednesday morning starting in February.  Our 5th-grade students also attended practice during lunchtime on occasion. There is one MATH Bowl competition statewide that occurred on Tuesday, April 12th.  There were 4 rounds consisting of 8 questions.  There is a captain for each round (ours were Charlie French, Corbin Stockton, Alex Lorenz, and Remy Carlton) that remains in for the entire round, while the remaining students rotate after 4 questions.  Schools were put into a class based on the grade levels competing and how large the school population is.  Central participated in the Orange class, which means we did not have 6th graders but do have a school population of over 163 fourth and fifth graders. For our Area, there were 4 schools competing in the orange class and we took 1st place with 23 points. After the area competitions, statewide rankings are compiled and we ended up 18th in the state of Indiana for our class. One thing that helped us secure a higher state ranking was the fact that our students answered the last question of every round (the hardest question) correctly for each round. Congratulations to Central's Math Bowl students and Mrs. Mosier and Harris for being great teacher sponsors!
