PHS sends three to DECA Nationals

After sending 63 Quaker business students to compete against 2300 of their Hoosier peers, three will move on to Nationals!

DECA students Salik Ahmad (Entrepreneurship) and the partnership of Elaina Lewis and Serina Bennici (Financial Services) advanced to compete in Orlando next month based on their state scores.

Sophomore Salik Ahmad says that while it's a little early to predict where he might focus his college studies, Business is certainly one option. During the state event, he had ten minutes to prepare and present two different scenarios for a business: choosing a location, and making staffing decisions based on the company's financial scenario.

For seniors Elaina Lewis and Serina Bennici, both see their future in the fields of science or medicine, but wisely appreciate that a solid business background will only improve their overall career options.

In addition to the quick-turnaround case studies, participants must also complete a 100-question test as part of both the state and national competitions. Plainfield will be well-represented by these thoughtful, smart and business-savvy students, and we wish them well at Nationals!
