Courtney Carmichael, 2nd Grade Teacher at Central Elementary

Meet Courtney Carmichael, a PHS grad who has taught 2nd grade at Central Elementary for eight years.

In addition to her daily teaching responsibilities, Courtney serves as a sponsor for the K-Kids and Running Clubs, plus the staff Sunshine Committee.

Courtney reports that her favorite part of being a teacher is building relationships with her students and their families. Even when her students have moved to the middle or high school, she loves to follow their activities, adding that she still thinks of them as “her kiddos.”

In her spare time, Courtney loves interior design (which shows in her classroom), reading, spending time with her furbabies, gardening and biking.

When asked what she would like to share about today’s youth, Courtney said: “Our youth are a direct reflection of us. They see and replicate everything that they see/hear. We can make such a positive impact on their entire lives in such a short period of time. Also, they are much more resilient than any adult I have ever met; we don’t give them enough credit!
