AJ McAdams honored as a Project Lead the Way Teacher of the Year

Plainfield High School teacher AJ McAdams learned this week that he has been named a 2019-20 Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Outstanding Teacher. PLTW recognizes outstanding teachers who inspire, engage, and empower their students by creating transformative learning experiences in their classrooms through PLTW programs. McAdams will now be in the running for the National Project Lead the Way Teacher of the Year.

McAdams came to Plainfield four years ago to launch the PLTW BioMedical Science program. He currently teaches the second, third and fourth-year courses: Human Body Systems, Medical Interventions, and BioMedical Innovations. Just this year he initiated an internship and job shadowing program with Eskenazi Health.

McAdams and his sister, Elaine Townsend (who also teaches PLTW BioMedical Science at PHS) started the HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) club at PHS, giving students the opportunity to explore health occupations and compete at the regional and national levels.
