Celebrating the Legacy of Scott Flood: Plainfield Community School Corporation Board Member Retires After Twenty Three Years of Dedicated Service

After more than two decades of exceptional service, Scott Flood, a cherished member of the Plainfield Community School Corporation (PCSC) Board, has decided to retire. Flood, who has been an instrumental figure in the educational landscape of Plainfield since 2000, will be moving out of the Town of Plainfield, where he leaves behind an extraordinary legacy of achievements and tireless commitment to the district's growth and development. In recognition of his outstanding leadership, Flood was honored as the recipient of the prestigious 2021 Outstanding Boardsmanship Award from the Indiana School Boards Association, which serves as a testament to his commitment to board service in Plainfield.

Throughout his tenure, Flood's dedication has played a pivotal role in shaping the educational infrastructure of PCSC. His leadership has been instrumental in overseeing the construction of Plainfield High School, Guilford Elementary School, and The Imagination Lab, as well as numerous renovations in all other schools throughout the district. Under his guidance, Plainfield Schools have flourished, providing students with modern facilities that enhance their learning experiences. He helped champion the increase of qualified counseling staff in our buildings, an addition that proves its worth daily in our schools.

Beyond his contributions to physical infrastructure, Flood has been a relentless advocate for the betterment of education in Plainfield. Several years ago, he and Sabrina Kapp created Allies for Education, a community engagement program designed to give stakeholders a detailed look at Plainfield Schools, which results in program graduates lending their opinions to committees and serving in leadership positions within the school corporation. Additionally, he has spent his tenure working to continually improve the relationships between administration and the board of trustees. In his 23 years of service, not one grievance has been filed, which serves as a testament to the collaborative relationship that he helped usher in.

As a trusted member of the PCSC Board, Flood has been deeply invested in the lives of students, families, and the community as a whole. His ability to bring diverse stakeholders together, listen attentively, and make well-informed decisions has garnered the respect and admiration of his colleagues and the broader Plainfield community. He helped strengthen the working relationship between the Town of Plainfield’s leaders and Plainfield Schools, the benefits of which will be felt for years to come. “Our school corporation has been blessed to have Scott Flood serve for 23 years. His steadfast leadership has been a benefit to our students, staff, and the community at large. He will leave behind a legacy that will be impossible to forget, but we are grateful for his efforts and sacrifices in the name of Plainfield Schools. We will miss him but wish him a wonderful retirement,” said Superintendent Scott Olinger.

Flood's retirement leaves a void in the school board, but his legacy will continue to inspire and guide future endeavors. We remain confident that the legacy left by Flood will continue to thrive, ensuring a bright and promising future for the students of Plainfield.

Join us in extending our deepest gratitude to Scott Flood for his exceptional service, leadership, and unwavering commitment to the betterment of education. We wish him a well-deserved retirement filled with joy, relaxation, and new adventures.

Thank you, Scott Flood, for your extraordinary contributions to Plainfield Community School Corporation. Your impact will be felt for generations to come.
