The PHS golf team earned its way to the State Finals, where they made a solid showing

Week Three of the summer has not been any less busy than the first two weeks!

We're featuring the PHS Boys Golf Team this week, as they earned their way to the State Championship, where they performed well and made everyone proud. What a great experience for these young men who represent Plainfield so well.

PHS grad and current University of Louisville diver, Molly Fears, has earned her way to the US Nationals diving team! Molly will travel to Naples, Italy over the summer to compete with Team USA. Read more about the experience here:

Last evening was the June School Board meeting, where we honored students who were selected to represent their school for the community value of Integrity.

We also honored PHS teacher, Adam Ferguson, who is completing his portfolio as he moves on as Plainfield's Teacher of the Year to compete at the state level. Adam is an excellent representative of #TeamPlainfieldTeachers, who set the bar very high every day, and every year.

Student-athletes of all ages spent a busy week with camps, and we have some great photos to share. Of course, it's nearly impossible to capture the many, diverse experiences in photos, but we are doing our best in the photos that follow.

The PHS football team attended a team camp at Indiana University, where skill development, teamwork and even some fun took place.

On the basketball court, there were students of all ages, both boys and girls. These pictures reflect just the girls, but I'm told the boys had a lot of fun as well! The PHS girls basketball team played at both IU and at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, and they hosted MANY young Quakers at their camp. While we know there was plenty of hard work taking place, our photos show mostly smiles.

Finally, the beginning of the week found the School Board, administrators and many teachers taking part in a retreat in Brown County. Much like our student-athletes, they focused on the fundamentals (their topic was Design Thinking), while participating in a few teamwork exercises. These retreats might look like a lot of fun, and fun is definitely an important facet of a retreat. But spending hours hearing from the experts, learning new approaches and strategies, planning, and developing skills for the coming years, is hard work. We appreciate the time they took out of their vacation, and time away from their families, to invest in our students. #TheQuakerWay

It doesn't appear that this is going to be a typical summer weekend weather-wise, but it might be a great time to pull out some board games, read a new book, or just enjoy some down-time. Stay safe, and we'll check back in next week!
