Get to know us: Kara Silver!

Meet Kara Silver, the media specialist at Clarks Creek Elementary who has worked her entire career, including her student teaching, in Plainfield.

While Kara keeps very busy encouraging all of Clarks Creek’s students to discover a love for reading, she also coordinates the annual Battle of the Books program, sponsors the Broadcast Club, and chairs the One School, One Book initiative.

In her spare time, Kara loves to travel, including trips to state and national parks with her husband and three children. And of course, she loves to read!

When asked what she would like to share about today’s youth, Kara said “instead of being negative about kids today, I’d rather be proactive and use every opportunity to make a positive impact, whether with the 180+ kids who pass through my library doors each day, or my own kids at home. We can’t give up on kids. It’s up to us to teach them how to be good people, and it’s the little interactions and teachable moments that matter every day.
