It's a great day when Nine13Sports comes to visit!

The Nine13Sports van is a sign of great fun inside!

Thanks to the continued support of Hendricks Regional Health (@HendricksHealth ), the @nine13sports van is back to get #kidsridingbikes this year!

Mrs. Thacker hopped on a bike and discovered that racing uphill against fifth grade students can be quite the challenge!

This week the program is visiting Central Elementary (@cnquakers) and later this semester, they will visit Clarks Creek Elementary (@ccquakers). Mrs. Thacker even hopped on a bike and took on one of the more challenging courses!

On stationary bikes, students ride different courses requiring varying degrees of exertion. A massive monitor helps them chart their progress.

Nine13Sports is a not-for-profit organization whose staff takes bikes to schools, shows students the fun that can come from bikes, talks about bike safety and encourages students to be active.

The emphasis is on being good sports while staying active, as opposed to 'winning' the race.

Dr. Giesting stopped by to check out the bikes and immediately hopped on one for a quick ride!

Dr. Giesting, Asst. Superintendent for Student Learning, stopped by Central to check out the fun, and immediately kicked off her heels and checked out the challenge course. The second graders who were on the bikes at the time were quite impressed!

While our students only get to experience the bikes once, we hope they will remember the lessons of staying active, having fun and not always having to win the race, and being good sports. Thank you, @Nine13Sports, and thank you, @HendricksHealth!
