Create & Innovate Students

In a world driven by technological advancements, fostering a passion for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) in students is essential for the future. On November 1, Plainfield High School hosted the eagerly awaited Create & Innovate event, which provided a stage for students from Pre-K through 12th grade to exhibit their STEM projects and innovations. Sponsored by the school district's dedicated STEM Committee, this event was open to the entire district, welcoming families, educators, and the community to experience the wonders of STEM education.

Create & Innovate was a celebration of the ingenuity and creativity of the district's young minds. The event was more than just a platform to display student projects; it was a dynamic and interactive experience that encouraged everyone to immerse themselves in the world of science and technology. As one PCSC teacher and parent said, “STEM Night was AMAZING! Because of it, my kiddos said we had to race home. They’re currently doing science experiments in the tub!”

Perhaps one of the most exciting aspects of Create & Innovate was the opportunity for the community to witness the evolution of STEM education. The event encouraged dialogues among students, parents, educators, and professionals, fostering a sense of curiosity and wonder that extends beyond the classroom. It was a reminder that STEM education is not confined to textbooks but is rather a pillar that helps shape the world around us. PCSC Technology Integration Specialist Karisa Schwanekamp, said, “I could not be prouder of our students and staff who have elevated our STEM education to new heights. Together, we have turned dreams into innovations and transformed challenges into opportunities, proving that the future is truly in our capable hands.”

The Create & Innovate event was a resounding success, thanks to the dedication and passion of the school district's STEM Committee and the enthusiastic participation of students. It served as a testament to the power of education and the boundless potential of our youth. Our district motto is “Bringing joy to learning” and you didn’t need to walk three feet to see that these students felt joy in the projects they showcased. By exposing students to the wonders of STEM and encouraging them to explore and innovate, we are shaping a brighter future for our community filled with innovation, creativity, and endless possibilities.
