The ChickFilA Cow and The Quaker Man pose in front of the QuakerBrake food truck

With just one full week until students of all ages return to school, the normal quiet-but-busy pace has intensified. Here are some highlights from Week Nine.

We continue to have teachers earn their Google4Edu Level 2 Certifications, and this week it was Kristen Fuson! Way to go, Kristen!

We've been collecting school supplies and backpacks for a few weeks now, but this week was the big one. With wonderful donors like Project Hope NY, the Plainfield ChickFilA, Bassett Heating and Cooling, and of course the United Way, we spent much of today passing out 500 filled backpacks to children in Plainfield. What a wonderful way to begin welcoming students back to school!

Here is Dr. Laura DelVecchio, Director of Student Learning, with the 100 backpacks and sets of school supplies that we received from Project Hope NY, a private foundation with huge hearts.

It's not everyday that the ChickFilA Cow and the QuakerMan get to hang out together!

The ChickFilA Supply donation event culminated with face-painting, ring toss, hula hoops and great support from our PHS student-athletes. Thank you to all who volunteered for this great cause!

On Thursday, we began organizing the amazing donations of school supplies, sorting everything into categories, then filling 500 backpacks with what had been donated. With tremendous energy and efficiency, once the sorting began it only took an hour to complete! Thank you to members of the PHS Honor Society and the Havoc 10U baseball team (and their families)!

It's been a beautiful day to be sharing these supplies with Plainfield families. Thank you to Gladden Farms, the Plainfield-Guilford Township Public Library, and Franklin Park for allowing us to use your facilities for supply drop-off sites!
