Dress-Up Days encourage spirit, creativity

Homecoming Week is five days full of fun and spirit. One of the most popular events is the dress-up days. Dress-up days, also known as Spirit Week, is a great opportunity to get involved and support Plainfield sports. In the upcoming week, students have a chance to win a gift card, if chosen as the best spirit day outfit.

Assistant Principal Brent Schwanekamp loves to see students participate. "Dress-up days are a way for students to get involved and show school spirit," said Schwanekamp. "It is great how all of the elementary schools and the middle school participate, too."

As a former Plainfield student, Schwanekamp reflected on what Spirit Week was like when he was in high school. "I can't remember that far back," he said. "We didn't have cell phones to take selfies."

Most Plainfield students are lucky to have phones and cameras to take pictures and document their experiences through high school. The Newsmagazine and Yearbook staffs also contribute greatly; the staff greatly covers dances, Spirit Week and games to make certain that these involvements are memorable and put down in a written copy of a book or magazine if one ever wants to look back on the times they had through their school years.

"It's great to have students involved in something fun during the school day," said Schwanekamp.
