Learning Garden

The Imagination Lab’s Learning Garden is in full “bloom” and is absolutely “radishing” at the moment! Puns aside, we have been hard at work to ensure the garden is healthy and thriving.

Growing in The Learning Garden this summer are herbs, sunflowers, edible flowers, zucchini, tomatoes, cucumbers, beets, turnips, and carrots. We have been able to donate fresh food items to St. Marks to use in their community meal service - The Lions Den -  and we look sharing more throughout our summer and fall harvests.

We captured rainbow made by the sun as we watered the sunflower area in late May when the seeds had barely sprouted yet. The tomatoes are growing tall and lush with an abundance of flower blooms.

In the June 3 picture of zucchini, notice that the seed coat is still attached to the budding plant! To learn more about how seeds grow, check out this post from Plainfield Guilford Township Library, From Seeds to Plants.  Be sure to watch the linked video first to see the seeds being planted!

Check out these before and after photos to see our summer garden progressing.

Look for more photos to “turnip” throughout the summer so that you can keep up with the garden’s progress.
