ARCHITECTURAL PLAN FOR THE SPACE

This virtual video from April 2017 created by CSO Architects offers a conceptual view of The Imagination Lab.

HISTORY OF THE SPACE

The Imagination Lab will be the latest transformation to Clarks Creek Elementary, a building that was constructed in 1989 to become Plainfield's first Middle School (PCMS). In 2008, PCMS moved to the school on Stafford Road that was vacated when the new high school was completed, and with that Clarks Creek Elementary was born. For the first few years, it was an Intermediate school, housing all Plainfield 4th and 5th grade students. In 2012 it became a K-5 school.

The largest of our four elementary schools, Clarks Creek was built with a Natatorium for the middle school swimming and diving program. It hosted countless summer swim meets and lessons, and was a vital part of the growing aquatics program in Plainfield. That even continued after the transition from middle to elementary school.

The Town of Plainfield even used the pool in recent years, but in the summer of 2016, town parks' officials notified the school administrators that they would no longer need the facilities after the winter of 2017. That led to discussion among PCSC officials about what to do with the space. While several options were considered, The Imagination Lab quickly won the unanimous support of the Board of School Trustees and administrators.
