Mr. Torrey Rodkey

Athletic Director

Mr. Rodkey earned his BA in Social Studies Education at Purdue University and his MA in Educational Administration at Ball State University. He taught social studies and coached basketball, football, baseball, and golf before becoming an administrator at Plainfield in 2009. Torrey and his wife, Kellie, live in Plainfield with their children Victoria, Marcus, and Vivian.

Mr. Patrick Cavanaugh

Assistant Athletic Director

Mr. Cavanaugh is the Assistant Athletic Director at PHS. Prior to Assistant AD he has coached five different sports at various levels for over twenty-five years. He also teaches in the Social Studies department. He has two sons; Jack and Derrek.  Pat and his wife, Carrie, live in Plainfield.

Mrs. Tammy Ford

Athletic Administrative Assistant

Mrs. Ford attended IUPUI for two years and played on the metro women's basketball team on a scholarship. She is a 1984 PHS graduate who played volleyball and basketball. She started with the Plainfield School Corporation in August 2021 as the LQA secretary and transitioned to the athletic department secretary in May 2022. Tammy and her husband Shawn live in Plainfield. They have two children, Ryan and Morgan and are grandparents to Zarah and Autumn.

Mr. Randy Vanderbush

Strength and Conditioning Coach

Coach Vanderbush graduated from Michigan State University where he was a letter winner in both football and baseball and also earned his MS from Indiana Wesleyan University. Randy is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with the NSCA and regularly speaks at state and national events. He and his wife Audra, sons Cael, Caden, and Coen reside in Plainfield.

Jon is an Athletic Trainer at Plainfield High School. He earned his bachelor degree from Indiana State University and a masters of business degree from the University of Southern Indiana. Jon came to us with previous experience as an athletic trainer at Tri-West High School and Lawrence Central High School. Jon lives in Indianapolis with his wife and two children.

Kathy is the head Athletic Trainer for Plainfield High School. Kathy is a 1992 graduate of Plainfield High school and a 1996 graduate of the University of Indianapolis. She currently lives in Plainfield with her husband and two daughters.

Mr. Tyler Bless

Varsity Football Coach

Coach Bless takes over the reigns of the Red Pride Football program in November of 2022 after serving as the Associate Head Coach in 2022 under longtime coach, Brian Woodard. Coach Bless played collegiately at Franklin College and has coached at the college level at a number of schools including UIndy, Butler, and Lindsey Wilson College. Before coming to Plainfield, Tyler was the Offensive Coordinator at Columbus North High School.

Mrs. Lori Pax

Varsity Volleyball Coach

Coach Pax is an Indiana native where she was a three sport athlete in high school at Cascade. Lori earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Social Sciences from the University of West Florida. She also has a degree as a Registered Dental Hygienist. Coach Pax has previously coached volleyball and basketball in Florida, Texas, and Oklahoma. Coach Pax resides in Plainfield with her husband Jason and her two children, Jordyn and Bryce.

Mr. Drew Sheppard

Varsity Boys' Soccer Coach

Coach Sheppard is the head boys' soccer coach and an English teacher at PHS. He graduated with distinction from Purdue University with a degree in English Education. He has four years of coaching experience as an assistant at Avon High School and was a part of a State Runner Up finish in 2013. Coach Sheppard and his family reside in Brownsburg.

Coach Benge teaches in the social studies department at Plainfield High School. Curt is a graduate of Ben Davis High School and received his B. A. degree from Marian College and his M.A. from Indiana Wesleyan. Coach Benge played four years of collegiate basketball at Carthage College and Marian College. Coach Benge selected as Coach of the 2004 Jr. All-Star Team, was the IBCA District II coach of the year in 2009, and was the Indiana All-Star Coach in 2017. Curt and his wife, Jennifer, live in Plainfield with their 3 girls Kayla, Sierra and Payton.

Mr. Andy Weaver

Varsity Boys' Basketball Coach

Coach Weaver teaches in the math department at Plainfield High School. Andy graduated from Clinton Prairie High School and obtained both his B.A. and M.A. from Purdue University. Prior to coming to Plainfield, Andy spent 15 years as the varsity boys’ basketball coach at Western High School. Andy was the IBCA District II coach of the year in 2004 and was also an assistant coach for the Indiana All-Stars in 2010. Andy is married to Shelly, a teacher at Central Elementary, and they live in Plainfield. Andy and Shelly have 3 children, Bryce, Madison and Michael.

Mr. Scott Johnson

Varsity Swimming & Diving Coach

Coach Johnson is a 1999 PHS graduate and has been the assistant coach in the Plainfield swim program since 2002 before becoming head coach in 2016. He was a 3-time high school state finalist and 2-year collegiate swimmer at University of Louisville and IUPUI. Additionally, Coach Johnson has also been a club coach for the Avon Community Swim Team and Mooresville Aquatic Club. Coach Johnson is in the process of establishing the Plainfield Community Aquatics Club which will operate out of the Plainfield High School Natatorium. Scott is a full-time Firefighter/EMT at Decatur Township Fire Department. He and his wife, Amanda and two daughters, Lainey and Lillian, reside in Plainfield.

Mr. Steve Mirizzi

Varsity Baseball Coach

Coach Mirizzi comes to Plainfield after six successful seasons as the head coach at Indian Creek High School where he compiled an overall record of 63-38 and included 3A Sectional titles in 2018 and 2019. His 2018 team won 26 games that included both Sectional and Regional titles. Steve is originally from West Chester, Ohio and graduated from Lakota West High School where he played both baseball and football. Coach played collegiately at Lincoln Trail College and Ouachita Baptist University. Coach Mirizzi lives in Avon with his fiance', Tiffany, and their 3 children.

Mr. Brian Pelkey

Varsity Track & Field Coach

Coach Pelkey is a U.S. Government teacher and Social Studies Department Chairman at Plainfield High School. Coach Pelkey has taught and coached at Plainfield for the past 34 years. Coach Pelkey has a B.S. degree in Social Science Education from Indiana State University (1981) and an M.S. degree in Education from Indiana University (1987). He and his wife, Lisa Teeter, live in Plainfield and have two sons: Robert (PHS grad 2011) and Justin (PHS grad 2014).

Mr. Keith Bradley

Varsity Boys' and Girls' Tennis Coach

Coach Bradley is married with four children and one granddaughter. Coach Bradley has been coaching tennis at PHS since 2007 and has coached in both the girls and boy’s programs. Keith also has attended multiple clinics and teaches private lessons in tennis. Coach Bradley loves the sport of tennis and plans to continue teaching the sport he loves at PHS for many years to come.

Mr. Bill Crays

Varsity Boys' Golf Coach

Coach Crays graduated from Vincennes University with his Associates degree in Law Enforcement and Indiana State University with a Bachelor’s of Science degree. After his formal education, Coach Crays went on to work for Bloomington Police Department for four years and then moved to the Marion County Sheriff’s Department until his retirement in 2012. Coach Crays now resides in Plainfield with his wife, Jerri, and his three children, Noah, Lilly and Claire. Coach Crays has continued to give back to the community by coaching in various recreational leagues and has also coached the boys’ golf team at Plainfield Middle School since 2013.
