Mr. Torrey Rodkey
Mr. Rodkey earned his BA in Social Studies Education at Purdue University and his MA in Educational Administration at Ball State University. He taught social studies and coached basketball, football, baseball, and golf before becoming an administrator at Plainfield in 2009. Torrey and his wife, Kellie, live in Plainfield with their children Victoria, Marcus, and Vivian.
Mr. Patrick Cavanaugh
Assistant Athletic Director
Mr. Cavanaugh is the Assistant Athletic Director at PHS. Prior to Assistant AD he has coached five different sports at various levels for over twenty-five years. He also teaches in the Social Studies department. He has two sons; Jack and Derrek. Pat and his wife, Carrie, live in Plainfield.
Mr. Randy Vanderbush
Strength and Conditioning Coach
Coach Vanderbush graduated from Michigan State University where he was a letter winner in both football and baseball and also earned his MS from Indiana Wesleyan University. Randy is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with the NSCA and regularly speaks at state and national events. He and his wife Audra, sons Cael, Caden, and Coen reside in Plainfield.
Mrs. Rebekah Rieser
Rebekah is a 2000 graduate of Plainfield High School and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in athletic training from Purdue University. Rebekah is employed by Hendricks Regional Health and is contracted to Plainfield High school. Rebekah and her family reside in Plainfield.
Mrs. Kathy Mathews
Kathy is the Athletic Trainer for Plainfield Middle School and the Assistant Athletic Trainer for Plainfield High School. Kathy is a 1992 graduate of Plainfield High school and a 1996 graduate of the University of Indianapolis. She currently lives in Plainfield with her husband and two daughters.
Mrs. Brandi Morris
Athletic Administrative Assistant
Mrs. Morris earned her Bachelor of Science degree from IUPUI in 1999. She has been an Athletic Secretary for the past 10 years, while most recently at Avon and Danville High Schools. She has coached volleyball, basketball, track and softball at the MS and HS levels. Brandi and her husband, Kevin live in Plainfield with their two sons, Ethan and Braeden.
Mr. Brian Woodard
Varsity Football Coach
Coach Woodard is the Head Football Coach at PHS where he also teaches Biology. Coach graduated from Avon High School, where he earned All-State honors as a defensive lineman and was also a member of the South All-Star team. He received his BS in Secondary Education/Biology from the University of Evansville where he was a 4-year letterman in football as an offensive lineman. Brian also holds a Master of Education degree. Coach Woodard, along with his wife Jennifer, son Blake, and daughter Allison, reside in Plainfield.
Mrs. Allison Tabaska
Varsity Cheerleading Coach
Coach Tabaska is an English Teacher at Plainfield High School. Allison participated in gymnastics very young and began cheering in middle school. She graduated from Cathedral High School (Indianapolis) in 2010. At Cathedral, she was a cheerleader and softball player. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in English from Indiana University and her Masters in Education Policy and Leadership from Marquette University. Allison currently lives in Avon with her husband, Jake, and her son, Luke.
Miss Alexis Padgett
Varsity Volleyball Coach
Coach Padgett was a three sport athlete at Indianapolis Scecina High School. She then went on to play collegiate volleyball at Purdue Northwest. She has been a volleyball assistant at both Ben Davis and Pike High School. Coach Padgett is currently a coach and coordinator for Circle City Volleyball Club and is an IUPUI student working towards a degree in Psychology.
Mr. Drew Sheppard
Varsity Boys' Soccer Coach
Coach Sheppard is the head boys' soccer coach and an English teacher at PHS. He graduated with distinction from Purdue University with a degree in English Education. He has four years of coaching experience as an assistant at Avon High School and was a part of a State Runner Up finish in 2013. Coach Sheppard and his family reside in Brownsburg.
Mr. Alex Larr
Varsity Girls' Soccer Coach
Coach Larr graduated from Avon High School, where he was a varsity letterman on the boy’s soccer team. He was fortunate enough to win a state championship with his soccer club Westside United in 2003; where he has also coached for the past 4 seasons. Coach Larr attended Indiana State University, where he studied Criminal Justice. He currently works for Marion County Community Corrections as a Program Coordinator. Coach Larr has one son, Grant Michael Larr.
Mr. Joe Hoffman
Varsity Cross Country Coach
Coach Hoffman is physical education teacher at Plainfield High School. Joe graduated from Clinton Prairie High School and went on to run cross country at IUPUI where he earned his B.S. degree in Physical Education. Coach Hoffman has also been involved in coaching track at the high school and basketball at the high school and middle school levels. He resides in Indianapolis.

Coach Benge teaches in the social studies department at Plainfield High School. Curt is a graduate of Ben Davis High School and received his B. A. degree from Marian College and his M.A. from Indiana Wesleyan. Coach Benge played four years of collegiate basketball at Carthage College and Marian College. Coach Benge selected as Coach of the 2004 Jr. All-Star Team, was the IBCA District II coach of the year in 2009, and was the Indiana All-Star Coach in 2017. Curt and his wife, Jennifer, live in Plainfield with their 3 girls Kayla, Sierra and Payton.
Mr. Andy Weaver
Varsity Boys' Basketball Coach
Coach Weaver teaches in the math department at Plainfield High School. Andy graduated from Clinton Prairie High School and obtained both his B.A. and M.A. from Purdue University. Prior to coming to Plainfield, Andy spent 15 years as the varsity boys’ basketball coach at Western High School. Andy was the IBCA District II coach of the year in 2004 and was also an assistant coach for the Indiana All-Stars in 2010. Andy is married to Shelly, a teacher at Central Elementary, and they live in Plainfield. Andy and Shelly have 3 children, Bryce, Madison and Michael.
Mr. Scott Johnson
Varsity Swimming & Diving Coach
Coach Johnson is a 1999 PHS graduate and has been the assistant coach in the Plainfield swim program since 2002 before becoming head coach in 2016. He was a 3-time high school state finalist and 2-year collegiate swimmer at University of Louisville and IUPUI. Additionally, Coach Johnson has also been a club coach for the Avon Community Swim Team and Mooresville Aquatic Club. Coach Johnson is in the process of establishing the Plainfield Community Aquatics Club which will operate out of the Plainfield High School Natatorium. Scott is a full-time Firefighter/EMT at Decatur Township Fire Department. He and his wife, Amanda and two daughters, Lainey and Lillian, reside in Plainfield.
Mr. Ryan Cobb
Varsity Wrestling Coach
Coach Cobb graduated from Plainfield High School where he wrestled for Coach Mike Meunier. Ryan was a two time IHSAA State Place Winner finishing 4th at 160 lbs. in 1994 and 3rd at 172 lbs. in 1995. He was a two time National Cadet Team Member and two time Junior National Team Member. Ryan is a self employed luthier at the Indiana School of Lutherie in Plainfield. Ryan resides in Plainfield with his wife, Jennifer and sons Rowan and Ramsey.
Mr. Shane Abrell
Varsity Baseball Coach
Coach Abrell is a computer science teacher at Plainfield High School. Shane graduated from Terre Haute South High School, where he was a three sport athlete and went on to play baseball at Indiana State University. Coach Abrell has previously been an athletic director at Terre Haute North and has coached multiple sports including football and basketball in addition to baseball at both Terre Haute North and Terre Haute South. Coach Abrell and his fiancé, Shannon reside in Plainfield
Mrs. Jamie Collier
Varsity Softball Coach
Coach Collier teaches in the math department at PHS. She is a 2010 graduate of Plainfield High School where she was a three sport athlete. Coach Collier went on to play four years of softball at Trine University where she received her degree in Math Education in 2014. Jamie has been a soccer, basketball, and softball assistant and is currently the head softball coach at PHS. She resides in Plainfield and is married to former Quaker Nick Collier.
Mr. Brian Pelkey
Varsity Track & Field Coach
Coach Pelkey is a U.S. Government teacher and Social Studies Department Chairman at Plainfield High School. Coach Pelkey has taught and coached at Plainfield for the past 34 years. Coach Pelkey has a B.S. degree in Social Science Education from Indiana State University (1981) and an M.S. degree in Education from Indiana University (1987). He and his wife, Lisa Teeter, live in Plainfield and have two sons: Robert (PHS grad 2011) and Justin (PHS grad 2014).
Mr. Keith Bradley
Varsity Boys' and Girls' Tennis Coach
Coach Bradley is married with four children and one granddaughter. Coach Bradley has been coaching tennis at PHS since 2007 and has coached in both the girls and boy’s programs. Keith also has attended multiple clinics and teaches private lessons in tennis. Coach Bradley loves the sport of tennis and plans to continue teaching the sport he loves at PHS for many years to come.
Mr. Bill Crays
Varsity Boys' Golf Coach
Coach Crays graduated from Vincennes University with his Associates degree in Law Enforcement and Indiana State University with a Bachelor’s of Science degree. After his formal education, Coach Crays went on to work for Bloomington Police Department for four years and then moved to the Marion County Sheriff’s Department until his retirement in 2012. Coach Crays now resides in Plainfield with his wife, Jerri, and his three children, Noah, Lilly and Claire. Coach Crays has continued to give back to the community by coaching in various recreational leagues and has also coached the boys’ golf team at Plainfield Middle School since 2013.
Miss Shelby Lewis
Varsity Dance Team Coach
Coach Lewis is a 4th grade teacher at Van Buren Elementary. Shelby Lewis attended Butler University where she studied Elementary Education, Special Education, and English as a New Language. Shelby was a member of the Butler University Dance Team for all four years of college and performed at all football and basketball games. Shelby resides in Carmel, Indiana.
