ATHLETICS


The PCMS ladies tennis team played finished second in the Mid-State Conference Tourney this weekend. The team avenged an early-season loss to the Whiteland Warriors with a 3-2 win on Friday and defeated the Perry Meridian Falcons 5-0 on Saturday morning. The ladies were beaten by the Franklin Grizzlies 5-0 in the championship. Winners were Ruby Woodson, Maddie Brothers, Poet Kenworthy, Mikayla Remali, Chloe Sumner, Ella Chafin, and Mahala Hess. The Quakers finished with 10 wins and 8 losses on the year. Great season, ladies!

ATHLETICS

The 7th-grade baseball team finished the season with a big, come from behind victory over Brownsburg West 13 - 10. The Quakers found themselves down by seven runs after 3 innings. They put together a 1 out rally to score 10 runs in the fourth inning. Every member of the team contributed something positive to help secure the win. The team ends the season with 7 wins, 3 losses, and 1 tie. Great season men!

The PCMS ladies tennis team was defeated by the Westfield Shamrocks 5-0 yesterday. Reserve winners for the Quakers were Gretchen Harper and Lilly Snider.

The 7th grade softball team lost to brownsburg west, but had some great plays during the game. Vayla Mansfield caught a pop up at 2nd and had 2 ground ball plays at 1st. Riley Swanson had a bunt hit single, Baleigh Adams made a catch in Left. Kaylee Utley was aggressive in the batter’s box.

Last night the 8th grade baseball team finished their season with a 5-2 win over Brownsburg West. The team amassed a school record 13 wins and outscored their opponents 145-41 on the season. Do they have enough talent to beat their coaches, teachers and dads? Come find out tonight at 5:15!

Any boys who would be interested in checking out the high school lacrosse practice and see what it is all about can watch today from 6-730 at the Al and Jan Barker Sports Complex, football field 1.

Attention volleyball players! Any girl entering the 7th or 8th grade who is interested in playing volleyball should attend a callout meeting this Friday morning at 7:30 in the East Gym. All current 8th graders planning on playing freshman football this fall, we will be having a football camp May 16th, and 17th at PCMS. That is this Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday here at the Middle School. The camp will last from 3:30pm to 5:30pm. This is a free camp to all incoming freshmen football players. Plan on being outside (weather permitting). So bring cleats and tennis shoes. We will meet in the Commons after school on Wednesday. Any questions please ask Coach Adams, Ellis, or Young. The Plainfield wrestling team improved their dual meet record to 3-0 by defeating Decatur 77-39.

The 7th grade boys lost a tough game to Brownsburg 45-41. We finished 14-6 and conference champs. Congrats on a great year.

The Boys’ Basketball teams extend a big thanks to the PCMS students for your support last night in the semi-finals of the County tournament and all season long. . Basketball fans…Both 7th and 8th grade Boys’ Basketball teams advanced to the semi-finals of the Hendricks County Tournament last night with a win over Cascade. Tonight, the Bulldogs from Brownsburg East will be in the house. 7th Grade tip-off time is 5:00. Come out and support your teams. Please note that admission for all students is $4.00. The 7th grade boys team did it again to run their record to 14-5 with a hard fought win against a strong Cascade team by a score of 38 to 43. Unselfish play was the key to the win.

The Plainfield Wrestling team won the Paul Hadley invitational on Saturday. The Quakers beat out 17 teams for the top spot honors. In addition to the team title, individual champions were Noah Davis, Harrison Hrbeck, Cameron Allen, Conor Holt, Jacob Sheets, and Thomas Hayes.

Last night the 8th grade girls basketball team fell short against Avon South, the team will be back in action next Wednesday at home vs. Brownsburg.

The 7th grade boys basketball team played the game of the year to win the the Mid-State Championship by a score of 36 to 34 over a very talented Whiteland team last night. Unselfish play was the key to the huge win.

The 7th grade boys won again against Greenwood last night by a score of 48 to 35 to improve to 12-5 on the year. We play for the Mid-State Championship tonight against Whiteland. Unselfish play was the key to the win

There will be a Call-out meeting for all 8th graders interested in playing football next year on Thursday, January 19th. The meeting will take place in the Wrestling Room at 7:30am. If you plan on being part of the football program next year, please plan to attend.

The Science fair will be held on Wednesday February 8th afterschool in the cafeteria until 4 PM. Anyone who is interested in participating, please talk to your science teacher by January 20th.

The 7th grade boys beat a strong Mooresville team last night in overtime 34 to 31. We are now 11-5 on the year. Unselfish play was the key in the win. We are in action again Wednesday against Greenwood in the semifinals of the mid-state.

The Plainfield middle school wrestling team is 2-0 after defeating tri-west 93-12 and defeating Avon North 68-32.

Last night the 8th grade girls team kicked off their season hosting the Perry Meridian Falcons. Both teams played hard, but unfortunately the Quakers came up short 31-34.The team will be back in action at home tomorrow night at 6:15.

Last night against Perry meridian, Jozee Rhodes was our leading scorer with 10 points.

Over the weekend the 8th grade boys B team came in 3rd place in the Zionsville B tournament. The team lost to Carmel 18-35 in the first round, but got hot in their second game and beat Southport 32-18. Good season guys!
