PHS 4th Yr Spanish students become elementary teachers for the day

Pictured above: the PHS 4th-year Spanish students. All photos below were taken at Central and Van Buren Elementary schools.

Eighty-six Plainfield High School students, all in their fourth year of Spanish, spent much of their Friday sharing their love and knowledge of the language with students in all four of the town's elementary schools.

Working in groups of three or four, the high school students planned their lessons, gathered materials and props, and took their show on the road. Students in grades 1-5 then had the chance to practice reading and speaking Spanish while playing fun games, working math problems and learning key words and phrases.

It's often said that we learn best by doing. Whether these PHS students continue their studies in Spanish, pursue a career in education, or choose another path altogether, they were successful in their efforts today. Their preparation and excitement for becoming teachers, even if only for today, will serve them well in whatever their futures hold.
