Day 28: #30DaysOfGratitude

On #GivingTuesday, the tradition has become one of supporting your favorite cause or charity after a weekend where many people complete their holiday shopping. This #GivingTuesday seems an ideal time to show our appreciation to the Plainfield Community Schools Legacy Foundation.

Education foundations have become important partners with schools, raising funds for scholarships and programs that schools can't (often by law) fund themselves. And they are donor-friendly, due in part to their ability to earn the tax-friendly 501(c)3 status.

The Legacy Foundation, with its vision, "to provide a legacy to enrich the educational experiences of all students in the Plainfield Community School Corporation," has already made several gifts to our students and teachers this academic year.

Early this year, members of the foundation's board visited the elementary schools to present a new book to every Kindergarten student - one they may take home and keep. A few weeks later, the foundation paid for a dining hall lunch for Plainfield 3rd graders on their visit to a college campus. Grants have been awarded to at least one teacher per school for the fall semester, helping them bring exciting new programs to the classroom. And a major donation was made to The Imagination Lab, allowing students from all schools to work together creating, designing and building a robot that will serve as the lab's mascot.

None of this would be possible without the support of local businesses, alumni, and Plainfield residents committed to the strength of Plainfield's schools.

Thank you, Legacy Foundation, and thank you to all of the organizations who work so hard to support our students.
