Bon Appétit

094b

Ever wonder why French people eat such rich, fine-tasting food and never seem to gain weight? Students from French 2 and Advanced Nutrition explored this very question through their participation in a Legacy Grant project, Bon Appétit!

All aspects of planning, purchasing, translating, metric conversion and preparing Powerpoint presentations took place the week before spring break.  On March 29th, students were put to the test of organizing 6 kitchens - restaurant style -  in order to create selected recipes taken from the New York bestseller, French Women Don’t Get Fat, by Mireille Guiliano.

Needless to say, fun was had by all when it came time to finally sit down to nicely set tables and feast on the fruits of their labors.

CHAP Classes Dress for 1950's Day

Carrie Farris began the CHAP class’ Domestic America unit of study by dressing as a 1950s housewife. She read an excerpt to her students from an actual home economics textbook; Mr. Cavanaugh dressed as a 1950s father and read to the students from "The Good Citizens Handbook." Both of these publications were from the 1950s. The students were inspired to have their own 1950s dress up day later in the week.
