Message from the SuperintendentPublic education is being more challenged than ever before with the recent budget cuts announced by the State. The Plainfield Community School Corporation's budget was decreased by 4.6% causing us to reduce spending in several areas. Our primary goal is to keep cuts away from classroom instruction. For the 2010-2011 school year, the outstanding instruction provided to our students will not be compromised. You will not see a negative impact on class size, nor do we anticipate having to cut any instructional or extra-curricular programs that benefit our students.
Legacy Foundation FundraiserThe Legacy Foundation is hosting a fundraiser at Woodfire Grill on March 16. Ten percent (10%) of the lunch and dinner proceeds will go to the Foundation for their various programs. Please come and help support the Foundation.
PHS Students Build Playhouse at Clarks Creek
The Civil Engineering Students and their instructor, Mr. Vargo, built a playhouse at Clarks Creek Elementary. The playhouse is being utilized by Mrs. Trimble's special needs students at Clarks Creek. This is a great addition to their classroom. Thanks to the high school students for lending their knowledge and ability to assist these young students. Plainfield HS / Avon HS Reading ChallengeIt is time to announce the start of the Fourth Annual Plainfield/Avon Reading Challenge. This is a contest between Plainfield High School and Avon High School. The Reading Challenge is sponsored by the Media Center. The contest will run from March 1-19, 2010. Students may read books, magazines, or newspapers – as long as it is not for a class assignment. Students will then need to show a staff member what they have read and answer a few questions. When a student reads over 500 pages, he or she will be recognized with a locker sign and his/her name posted on the Wall of Fame by the media center. The top ten readers from our school will get to throw a pie at Mr. Rodkey (yes, our assistant principal), but only if our students read more pages than Avon High School. Please help encourage your child to participate in this contest so Plainfield High School can become the Fourth Annual Plainfield/Avon Reading Challenge Champion!
