Eighth Grade Reality Mall
Each school year, all members of the eighth grade class spend an hour in the East gym participating in an activity called the “Reality Mall.” Each student will select an occupation, which students qualify for based on their grade point average. Their occupation of choice will come with a monthly salary. During their hour in the gym, they must make fourteen stops and “pay the bills.” Each student must make decisions regarding what kind of housing they want, how much they are going to pay for food each month, what kind of automobile they are going to drive, etc. They will have to pay for insurance and monthly utilities. If they have children, they will have to pay for childcare, haircuts, and entertainment. It will all add up to an eye opening experience for most of the students.
The Reality Mall will be held on Tuesday, March 21st.
